You could always UPS ground the gas to where ever you are going in advance..

What is prohibited ? Anything designed to burn butane or just the gas itself
? If the latter, you could travel with the iron and only buy the gas
locally. The problem is, commonly available gas cartridges are probably too
big for you to use in one trip and small gas cartridges may be hard to find.
