Danjel,

Raw aluminum is worthless, especially 5052.  You can almost scratch it with
your fingernail!  However, a couple of quick sprays with something like
Varathane Diamond Clear Wood Finish, and it's scratch-proof (and takes on a
much nicer hue than the raw metal).
