A signal with +/- 1.2 volts or less. Actually looking at the spice  
plot +/- 1 volts should give interesting results.

If you normally use +/- 5 volts signals, you could scale down by 5,  
and then run that into a VCA; as you change the amplitude you will hit  
more or less teeth in the nonlinear memoryless transfer function.

If you built it as a module, you could put a separate output amplifier  
op amp circuit at each output (each one with a gain of 5) to have  
three different waveshaper outputs at your disposal.
