There's also the Buchla converter, which uses a cuople of resistors, a
couple of diodes, and a FET. You see it all over his designs. (I think
that circuit predates Buchla, though. I recall seeing it discussed in
Hal Chamberlin's book, but I don't have it handy at the moment to
check.)
