I think solder that contains a small amount of silver (Ag) works  
best. At work I use Sn95,5Ag3,8Cu0,7 from Felder (www.felder.de). As  
far as soldering goes, I really can't make out a difference to leaded  
solder.

I'm sure there are similar products from other vendors. It's amazing  
how many different lead-free solder alloys exist, one for shiny  
solder joints, one to avoid whiskers, and so on...

As far as I know, solder made for hand-soldering always contains flux.
