Yes, I think so. And 6 voices is exactly the point where most people  
feel it is "quite enough":
With 6 voices you can play double basses (octaves) with the left hand,  
and a complete triad (3 notes) with your right hand (or maybe a 7th  
chord if you´re into jazz or something).
4 voices are a tad too few, 5 is OK, 6 is good, and anything above  
that is pure luxury.
So 6 voices make a good choice both ways.
