also describe keyboard scanners/controllers.  May be useful to others.  It seems if you can find an E510 chip it does most of the work for you, outputting MIDI directly.  Fine if that's what you want (not, in my case).

>From the Doepfer site it seems the FATAR keyboards above a certain size split the contacts into two groups.  A bit tricky.  At least Siel and Yamaha got it right scanning a 61-key keyboard in one go :-)
