[sdiy] MIDI inc/dec program

Tom,

You can still do your Program Inc/Dec from your controller, you just have to
look at it a little differently.

Have your controller Remember which program you are on and when you hit the
Inc the program adds one to your program count and Then send a Program
Change with the New program number, and the Dec is the same thing except you
decrement the local program number before you send the program change.

I am still drinking my morning coffee, hopefully this explanation of the
concept is coherent ;)

Ideally, "any of 'em" - after all, isn't that the point of MIDI?

Specifically, I'm testing this thing with a Roland SoundCanvas SC-155
desktop module. The MIDI details in the back of the manual suggest
that it can't be done. It will accept Data Inc/Dec after setting a
RPN or NRPN, but unfortunately "Program" isn't one of the parameters
on offer - only filter cutoff, resonance, env settings, etc.

The Sysex implementation is pretty sketchy, and seems to mainly be
geared to storing the settings in sequencer. I can't see anything
about program inc/dec.

Pity, it was a nice idea. What else could I usefully use my
footswitches for? Has anyone got any good ideas?

T.
