I had a recent project that needed some transparent wheels, but I didn't find any off the shelf.
So I made my own. I bought a sheet of Lexan from the local hardware store, and cut the wheels with a hole saw. Lexan is a lot easier to work with than Plexiglass, because it's not brittle, so it doesn't want to shatter. The only thing to watch out for is getting it too hot, because it melts...simply back the drill off every few seconds to let it cool.
You can sand & polish the edges if you desire. A friend later told me that an instant under a blowtorch would make it very smooth.
I then got some little collar clamps at the hardware store, and superglued them to the wheels. In my case, they went on the shaft of a stepper motor - in you're they'd be on the pots.
