Dan, the DG406/7 looks like it comes in a 0.6"-wide 28-pin DIP package.
Unless I've read the datasheet wrong, I think it's actually bigger than the
4067, which has only 24 pins.

The 4051 has 16 pins.  Hence, there is no way to route two 4051s to take up
less space than a single 4067 (the only way would be if they could share
pads on one side, which they cannot).  I think you're better off just using
the 4067.  Remember, there's lots of real estate underneath the 4067, which
you may be able to take advantage of to make your entire layout more
efficient.
