Hello List,

Please see Fig. 23 "Simplified Schematic" in the datasheet of SSM2164.
Transistors at the output stage are almost saturated.
Its output voltage swing is limited to less than 0.3V.
Therefore, connecting to a virtual ground input like inverting integrator 
is essential.

That's the reason I (and Mike Irwin also) struggled to develop an unusual 
all-pass filter topology using 2164s.
