[sdiy] 808 drums...how they work?

does anyone know of a good resource/page, book, etc which explains how the drum circuits work on the roland 808?

I am speaking here mainly of the drum sounds themselves, NOT the sequencer section.

a circuit theory of operation would be nice but even a general overview would suffice.

I am interested in answering a few questions.

1. Do these drums use resonator circuits

2, If they do, what excitation source do they use and how is IT created. ( what is an optimal excitation source, etc)

3. if they are resonators, do they use feedback to allow for longer decays? most resonators i have built have a very short decay
so I am interested in finding ways of making nice, long, tones.

thanks for any help!!
