Swapped out a uA728 for an OP27 after I removed the compensation cap.

Squeek... Kaboom... Took out both sets of power transistors.

I didn't believe this was down to the op-amp selection so replaced the 
dead components only to have it do it again on me with no load. I am 
assuming it oscillated so fast as to ensure both output devices were 
partially on at the same time.

It was is the output section of an old Powertran T30+30 based on the 
even older Texan amp.

Interesting that he says he replaced the 741/748s with 351s and it 
didn't go boom. It'll be interesting to have a look at the gain/phase 
relationships of this one.
