Since you've mentioned it, I've been thinking about the feasibility of
this.

The initial problems you'd need to overcome are:

1) Make sure it's the right scale
2) Make sure it's square on
3) Make sure the linearity is good

Once you've done that, then at 300dpi, it would depend on the resolution
of the projector.

1024x768 would give a 3.4"x2.56" image size - and I'm not sure if the
optics in the projector would be suitable for sharp focus at that size
(how many people run their projectors down to that size?)

But on the whole, it would be nice not to have lots of used film kicking
around :)
