Hi Justin,
>>Can I ask exactly what type of material that was - some type of coated
>>metal right?
How thick?
The metal is anodised alluminium, 3mm thick, to match the Oakley and MOTM
systems (synthtech actually specifies the thickness at 0.125 inches or
3.17500 millimeters)
The anodising is important for the engraving, as it gives a cleaner cut.
Anodised can be accqired in various colours, but black and silver are the
most availible.
Ahh, and to answer the qustion about file formats -
The machine itself works from g-code, which is just a long string of
numbers. This g-code can be generated in various different ways, from
various formats. There are even programs about thatll create 3d profiling
tool paths from greyscale photos (although ive never tried this!)
But, the short answer is that, for engraving, pretty much any vector format
can be converted.
