[sdiy] Weird Serge front panel overlap material

While we're talking about front panels - I took a closer look at the
overlay on my little kit-built Serge.
I can't figure out what it's made of. It's like a thick paper, but it
doesn't seem to want to tear like paper (not that I really tried very
hard). It looks like metal but it's not hard like metal. It's peeling
off on one corner, so it's quasi-flexible.
Anyone knowledgeable about Serge stuff out there know what this is?
Whatever it is I doubt it could be run through a printer, sadly - it
seems too stiff. Otherwise, it seems like it would be a nice option
for doing overlays over standard panels (like Ray Wilson's universal
panel, or John Blacet's DIY panel, or whatever), if I can figure out
what it is.
