Yep - me too. All I find in the dead-tree catalog is the vertical 
oriented versions. I recall seeing the right-angle ones somewhere a 
while back for the same application and now I've forgotten where.

However, go to Digi-Key and search on the SAM1186 series. Here's an example:

Downside - it's Samtec, which means that they want to build them custom 
for you and Digi-Key only stocks a few standard counts/sizes.
