I have to admit I didn't learn much about Tesla until recently myself.
If I had to venture a guess, I'd say we didn't learn much about him in
elementary and high school (in the 60s and 70s) because, even though
he later became a US citizen, he was born in a Communist country. You
know, Cold War and all that stuff that seemed so important at the
time.
