[sdiy] Mounting hole size for switch - can't seem to get from datasheet

So - just out of curiosity...

When someone specifies an M6 (or M3 or whatever) washer.

Is that just saying it will fit over an M6 thread? I'd always presumed it was diameter.

Just having a Google, 0.75mm is the thread pitch used for the Metric  
Fine
system as opposed to 1.00mm for standard metric threads :-
