You could also use the keyboard chip from Crumar Bit masterkeyboard and Crumar bit one.
They are 8051 ROM chips that output the midi data on channel 1 like the E510.
It is intended to be use for keyboards with 61 keys.

But if you have the code inside the ROM you can burn this software into a 8751, 89C51 or similar.
And I have the code... :-)
