I do have some Mirage (-01) and ESQ1 (-02) keyboard scanners as well als 
ESQ1/SQ80 display processors (-03). Although especially the count on the 
latter is steadily decreasing -- seems like especially the ESQ1 is good 
in frying either.

Yes, it is. 

Unfortunately also with no easy way of reading out the internals like 
80xx microcontrollers.
