That was my observation at the time too.

I am reminded of my own thoughts back in the early 90's when I got my  
hands on a DSP dev board at work for the first time. At that time I  
did not know about the Synergy. I messed with the dev board to create  
an additive synth, well single tone generator. I was interested in  
synthesing the harmonic partial changes of instruments such as  
trumpets and strings. It worked. Now I am working slowly on a soft  
synergy.
