Those 14 quid don't look so bad at all. I spend more on lunch. Then
again going one whole day without lunch would suck, so I admit there's
perspective to that...
I'll definitely try the repair thing. I have a company so it'll look good.

What packing guidelines do you guys suggest?
The sender mentioned double-boxing it. But I'm afraid this might not
stand up to the test.
