Yeah, there are two ways being discussed here;

1) The way I was talking about - testing the keyboard assembly at one  
or other connector end. For this you need the keys pressed down. This  
tests the key contacts, the diodes and whatever connectors and cables  
you've got between your tester and the keyboard. If you find a  
problem, it could be in any of these parts, so you'll then have to  
find out what's going on.

2) Test just the diodes. This involves sticking your meter probes on  
each leg of each individual diode both ways around to check that it  
conductors in one direction and not the other. If you find a problem,  
you know exactly which diode it is, but you still don't know that key  
contacts, connectors and cables are ok. You'll have to check them  
separately.
