I think we can go a bit further than that. Something more like;

Sound... the Final Frontier. This is the aim of the SDIY enterprise.  
Its interminable mission: to explore strange new sounds, to seek out  
new algorithms and build new hardware platforms, to boldly patch  
where no one has patched before.
