Yeah, that happens a lot around here :-) It's a sign of knowledgeable and enthusiastic people. At times it is irritating to ask what time it is and get told how to build a digital watch, but its also very informative. Religious arguments are rare and jihads are almost unheard of. Mostly this group is full of smart helpful folks who are great to know.
Now to answer your question: The gain of a transistor is determined by the... Just kidding!
