I've been pointed in the direction of the Oberheim XPander VCF.  I think
it's quite incredible how 16 filter modes can come out of one filter.  Does
this not make it about the most versatile analogue filter design ever?  I'm
definitely going to have a go at building an implementation of it without a
CEM chip.  I have never heard the Xpander though for real.  Can anyone that
has tell me what the filter sounds like?  Of most concern to me is that a
really good 4pole lowpass can come from it.  Many thanks, George
