Hey,

I think those rotary encoders with the leds are just too cool. And too expensive. So why not a DIY version? I have a design for a simple 15-led encoder/display unit. parts costs are around $5 not including the PC board. Just an idea I had to get out of my head. I figure a front cover can be made with a printer and some transparency material. Maybe a fancy bezel machined out of pvc. Easy work for a CNC mill.

Jumpers configure the max count to between 9 and 16, with a jumper setting the start point at 0 or 1. 4 bit binary output.

It is still in design phase; input welcome.
