I would love to cut corners in components and cost but sound is
paramount to me, LFO's can be digital, but not env's.
I don't see why...
With a digital envelope generator with sufficient resolution (e.g. 12
bits) that updates every say 100 us, low pass filtered at 2 kHz, you could
get both fast (down to 0.5 ms) and smooth envelopes. I would expect the
difference with an analog EG to be barely perceptible if at all.
