[sdiy] Two unrelated questions: Switch loads, debouncing

Hello all,

Looking for some input on two questions that have been nagging me of late.

1) Most switches are specified for resistive loads only, as capacitive loads
can quickly weld or vaporize the contacts. The question: where is the
general threshold for this? Data sheets never give any specifics (they'd
rather just say NEVER DO IT! than deal with warranty, of course), so does
anybody have some empirical observations on what you can get away with? I
assume that very low-current situations, such as switching timing
capacitors, would be OK, but has anyone done the experimenting that I don't
want to do? :)

2) This popped into my head the other day: Is there any reason to add switch
debouncing in entirely analog circuits?
