You mean harmonics with small frequency shifts? Yes.
The effect of (any kind of) distortion with e.g. electric guitars is so
much more dramatic than with a classic synthesizer, because in a plucked
string the frequencies of the harmonics are slightly higher than multiples
of the fundamental, so that the shape of the signal is continuously
changing, animating the spectral effects of the distortion.
