Paul,

I use Diptrace (www.diptrace.com), which was originally recommend to  
me by Adam Schabtach. It's way more modern than Eagle and far easier  
to use. I tried Eagle and found it truly awful. The Diptrace licenses  
start at €65 and go up in reasonable increments to €595, still a lot  
less than Eagle.
