Excellent progress!

On your comment about the size of the ISP connector, I've
standardised on a small 1.25mm pitch Molex connector as a mini-ISP
connector:

Interconnect/1.25mm-Wire-to-board-headers/72355/kw/22-3934

The crimps are very tiny, so I wimped out and bought a pack of ten
ready-crimped leads from Farnell.

I use the same pinout as the standard AVR 6-pin connector:

1 - MISO
2 - VCC
3 - CLK
4 - MOSI
5 - RESET\
6 - GND

and the standard 10-way IDC header at the other end into which the
programming cable plugs in.

I'm moving to surface-mount for larger projects, with components on
both sides. In this way I can squeeze even more into 100mm x 80mm :)

At the very least, Paul, if you used a TQFP for the AVR (and perhaps
all those resistors) you'd free up a lot of space.

Cheers,
Neil
