I see your point.  

The reason I am focusing in on the mix amp is when I tap the individual
outs, the SNR is quite good but the mixed outs have a substantial amount of
noise.  Should I be looking elsewhere for the source?  There really is not
too much in the signal path

Now, here is something to think about :)

There is a good chance that the 'noise' is not internally generated by the
TL072. Rather, it is being picked up and amplified by that stage. In many
cases, adding a 'better' op amp will make matters *worse*, because of the
higher bandwidth of the new part, even *more noise* gets through.

In other words, swapping out the 'last op amp in the signal path' may not
achieve what you are looking for.
