Seems the right thread to slide in an old idea:

I don't use autorouters and make my layout designs with the old tools:
paper and pencil (they are simple anyway and never used more than
10 ICs) and always liked SIL packages due to their simplicity and the
fact that (unlike DIL) I never did mistakes with them in pcb.

The 'new' package:
The idea is to have them ready to use in the right amount and place.
Need single or triple? That's no problem, simply breaking the strip
by the marks and they are ready to use :)
In my fantasy package power rails are real 'rails' inside the strip
made of thin conductors sharing power and basically only two pins
are needed to feed all opamps. Unused power pins can be left float or
used for decoupling caps.
In the case that one in a row of n goes kaput I imagine that a plier
would be the tool to isolate it (a bit of torque and... 'krak') ...more
easy than trying to isolate a single opamp in a TL0x4.

Its a pretty stupid idea and I'm sure no manufacturer would take it
as a suggestion, even remotely due to costs and target market and so...
but I like it!

What do you think? Can be modded for improvements? More DIY oriented
'fantasy' packages out there? :)

english in months and losing skill rapidly.
