David,
In soft sync, the "slave" oscillator will reset only when the reset
pulse from the "master" oscillator is near the reset point of the slave osc.
This lets you "lock" oscillators in ratios that not whole octaves apart
- 5ths, 3rds, etc - without chopping up the waveform of the slave osc.
