DOH! hehe. Well if you *think* about it it's really not all that
difficult. Doing 'worst case scenario' calculations is a very useful
technique in making a point on some kinds of issues.
For example I recently calculated that if 1 billion people of the world
drove some log truck that intakes .5 cf per rev (350 does .1 cf per rev)
of let's say..utterly polluted useless air (which isn't the
case..but..just say to get a concept) out the other side... and they all
drove them 10,000 miles per year... the total impact on the atmosphere
would be on the order of 1.7ppm were it just to accumulate and nature
to do no cleansing whatsoever. So that gives people a scale by which to
judge hypothesis like that certain things will dither up and ruin the
ozone layer etc. Doing these kinds of calculations broaden one's
perception of what is and isn't feasible. And give one a broader scope
of understanding of the universe we live in. and..keep us from being
duped by scumbags so that we have hopefully more time to do fun and
useful things :-) So many potential scams..so little time.. -Bob
