[sdiy] The Dreaded ROHS

It's an absolute Scam Matthew. People make millions of dollars
overturning the way things are done by *judiciously investing* in things
that of course will be needed in the process.
I've done the calculations and the long or short term impact of
electronic junk in worst case scenario is negligible in every way.
People who make the decisions are too stupid to consult people who
aren't paid off by the other side to do an unbiased study. Or they're
paid off too more likely.
Anyway I haven't had trouble soldering ROHS stuff with regular solder.
Here is the wiki page though on solder types:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solder
As you can see there is no real industry standard on lead free solder.
Various combinations of tin, indium and stuff make for different melting
temps. And of course we haven't *seen* the long term reactions that
will take place in practice. It's a 'train wreck' waiting to happen no
doubt. -Bob
