I would think that it is possible for DIY. You would just need to apply
the same technique that you do to make the PCB traces to the soldermask
layer, etching a thin sheet of brass (or copper) to make a stencil.
Then apply the whatever you are going to use through the stencil.
Have a check on the homebrew PCB Yahoo group - if it's being done
anywhere, it's being done there.
