With quite a lot of extra work, and attention to capacitive coupling,
 you could have all the cables come into four or so big multipin
connectors.  Then a solderless breadboard patch bay could plug into
that.  Then you could have several such patch bays and simply plug
them in as desired.

But that only makes sense if the patches are really complex.  For
something the size of what I was doing, it didn't take long to
reprogram it for whatever I wanted to do.
