Hey,
I received my Tonecore dev kit. Of course, it didn't work. I had to tear it apart (darn...) and fix it. Luckily it was a simple issue: Hi, The FX on/off switch is a free floating dome under a plastic case, and it had 3 domes inserted into it. After removing 2 domes and snapping the switch cover back on, it worked. They may have had it that stiff because a food would be stomping it, but I wanged it as hard as I could with my hand and could not actuate it.
The system is well thought out. There is an inexpensive module that contains the DSP program as well as the knobs, switches, led, and a coprocessor. The module is replaceable, so one can swap them in and out for different effects. It's this coprocessor that talks to the USB port. The DSP in the thing is a Freescale DSP56364 running at 100 MHz with an external 512K RAM.
So now I am poised to do some serious playing. Boy, this thing is more distracting than a redhead carrying a keg! I think I'll try the Vosim thing first. Let's see: first I need a table of sines... yield, stop, gerbil crossing... Oops, time to take my meds.
More to follow...
