This is very embarrassing, but... you're absolutely correct, Grant. I
thought I had checked this with my "plain cable" probes, but I guess I
hadn't. When I did, the problem magically disappeared. Then I discovered
the little adjustment screw on the proper probe, and voila, now all my
probes are reading properly.
I had just borrowed this probe from our electronics shop at school last
week, and had never used one before, so basically I didn't know what the
hell I was doing! At least I didn't start tearing my circuit apart, and now
I can say that my 2164 Expo Sawcore VCO creates very nice waveforms!
