Isn't the conclusion "the other person's setup must be causing the  
fault"? In which case, there may well be nothing actually at fault  
with the machine at all, beyond MIDI being quite sloppy, firmware  
being quite sloppy, and your user being quite demanding.

Is that what you're saying? (I haven't been following this closely,  
sorry)
