I'm thinking about getting a small drill press for all my DIYing stuff. I
primarily drill your basic aluminum Hammond stomp box cases or face plates
so it would have to be able to handle that easily enough. I figure
anything that can handle that can handle the other plastic Pcases and
speak and spell shells too :)
In looking at entry level models I've narrowed it down to two:
1. Skil 3320-01-RT , 3.2 Amp 10-Inch Drill Press
2. Ryobi DP101 (there are a few different intro models but this seems to
be the lowest price point with decent features.)
Both have a rack and pinion plate, .5 HP, multi speeds, laser, and are
small bench top designs around $100. My budget is around $150 but unless
there is a huge difference I'd be happy spending less too :) I would
probably used it about 1-2x a week at most which is another reason I
don't want a bigger or more expensive model. Right now I'm using a black
and decker hand drill so anything would be a step up I'm figuring.
Given I'll be using it primarily for basic DIY synthing I though I'd ask
y'all for your opinions of these and/or what features are a "must" as well
as any other info you might think useful in making a decision.
Any/all suggestions welcome.
Thanks!
