My friend's recently bought a Novachord from the US and has been 
lovingly restoring it, and also creating a sample library.

With 163 valves(tubes) and weighing 1/4 ton, this is probably one of the 
world's larger analog synths, as well as being the first commercial 
analog polysynth.

I believe they cost something like $1700 at the time (1939), about as 
much as a house!
