There are programs to "trace" or convert bitmaps to raster graphics,
but they generally require a LOT of manual intervention. You might try
Scan2CAD at www.softcover.com
Still, be prepared to to a lot of fiddling about with the results. It
is tricky at best. Sort of like pitch to voltage conversion; it SOUNDS
simple until you actually try to get it to work. You might be better
off putting the bitmap into a program like AutoCAD or even CorelDraw
and manually tracing over it. That way, you can maintain separate
layers. colors and line widths more easily. You can get a 30 day trial
version of AutoCAD from AutoDesk, or you can get a slightly older
version of Corel pretty cheap and it's a VERY handy graphics tool (and
it will export DXF). Oh, and Corel also includes tools for tracing /
converting bitmaps, but I still might try manually tracing for
something as simple as a PCB.
