This thread has devolved almost beyond redemption...

I think we are confusing the medium with the message.  Technology in the
service of human expression is as old as technology itself!  (Think about
the stone-age technology of making the paint used in the Lascaux cave
paintings, or the technology of firing clay to make goddess figurines.)
Yes, modern technology is fantastic, but only because it facilitates the
communication of ideas and expression.
