[sdiy] Can your *really* teach "Engineering"?

I came out of high school 5 years ago and what I gathered from it was
that it's a cesspool for apathy, laziness, and stupidity, but that's
just a generalization. The real issue I had with it is that no one
answered the couple questions I really wanted answered (which weren't
until the start of my second year in college) and the only fun I had
was the boring programming classes I took. For me highschool should
have been what the first couple years in college really where, but
instead I got a minimum security prison and wasted 2 - 4 good years of
my life.

If people actually took the time to plan out good programs in
elementary and middle schools, high school would be at a junior
college level or obsolete all together.

A while ago in human history you where an adult at 13. Kids of 15-16
went to war. I don't understand why now people expect nothing out of
kids under 18. The brain doesn't finish developing until around 22-23
years of age, so in the future will that be the legal age where
overnight you'll turn into a adult?

(Sorry I'm overly bitter about the subject so I'll end here.)
