Absolutely,
There should be an Academy Award equivalent for accomplishments in
engineering and design.
Who gives a crap if Brad Pitt can act? His role in a movie may have
an effect on you for about an hour but the advances in engineering
and science we take for granted have a far greater impact on our lives.
Most people don't know who invented the transistor or op-amp. Major
innovations that are responsible for the modern life we have.
One problem with holding an Academy Award equivalent for
accomplishments in engineering and design in USA/Canada...most of the
winners would be for best foreign design.
