[sdiy] Can your *really* teach "Engineering"?

I don't know whether anyone can teach engineering, but 
I do know that it is possible to provide an environment
in which it is possible to learn engineering - or not.

Whenever I have been stuck and needed a 'real' engineer - 
my qualifications are unfortunately in political science - I 
have found that the ONLY people who were any use to me, 
were people who had a history of DIY (in any field) before 
the went to university.

I also know that this synth-diy list has taught me a few things,
including some engineering. Thanks, everyone!
